Connoisseur talks to Martin Taylor one of the "most awesome solo guitar players in history", as he opens up about his approach to teaching and why his favorite chord is a major seventh.
"There's also that feeling," he continues, "that musicians talk about, especially jazz musicians, of being in the zone. I talk to my students about this. I tell them I know that they have this feeling. It's the feeling where you say, 'OK, I've got 15 minutes, I'll just sit down with my guitar and have a little play.' Next thing you know, you've been sitting there for two and a half hours. You've just got into that zone. You've got totally into what you were doing. And that's what happens when you get beyond the thinking thing. When I get into that feeling, into that zone, the guitar disappears. I'm actually not conscious of playing the guitar."
