Get To Know Giorgio Serci
Giorgio Serci is an award-winning guitarist, composer, arranger, and educator with an international reputation. He has performed and recorded in major concert halls and festivals worldwide, collaborating with artists including Katherine Jenkins, David Garrett, Ivan Lins, Basia, Eska, Emeli Sandé, Arthur Verocai, Sylvain Luc, Kenny Wheeler, Martin Taylor, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Julian Lloyd Webber, Bill Bruford, Franco Cerri, and Antonio Forcione, among many others.
Winner of the Sant’Anna Arresi Jazz International Award, Giorgio has released nine albums as a bandleader and appeared on numerous recordings as a sideman.
He is the co-founder of the Bansangu Orchestra alongside leading UK saxophonist Paul Booth. The world-jazz ensemble, featuring original compositions, has headlined international festivals and renowned venues including Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club.
As an educator, Giorgio has led masterclasses at conservatoires across Europe and at the International Association for Jazz Education conference in Toronto, where he received the award for “Outstanding Service to Jazz Education.” He has been a Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Music since 2001 and was appointed Fellow of ACM in 2009 in recognition of his outstanding commitment, expertise, professionalism, and exceptional student feedback. He is also Visiting Professor of Jazz at Royal Holloway, University of London and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
As a composer and arranger, Giorgio earned an MMus in Composition from the University of Surrey. His works have been performed worldwide by artists including Basia, Kenny Wheeler, Paolo Fresu, Camille Bertault, to name but a few and have been published by companies such as Hal Leonard, Trinity College London, and RSL Awards for their graded syllabuses.
Giorgio is also a columnist for Guitar Interactive and Lick Library, where his “Creative Fingerstyle” column has gained international recognition.
He is an official endorser for Yamaha guitars, Acus and DV Mark amplifiers, and Fibonacci Guitars, who created his signature model guitar, called ‘Alma’.
